Trade in our Bucks Day!

Since the beginning of school, the kids have been earning "bucks" as a little incentive. Landon's are Lego Bucks and Reagan's are Build-a-bear Bucks. They can only earn two a day (one for having good attitudes before school and another for having a good, tear-free day at school) and once they have earned enough for a set of legos or for an animal at Build-a-Bear, they can redeem them. This all started when Landon was having a tough start to his 1st grade year. He was very anxious and fought back tears many times during the school day. (Break a Mommy's Heart!) Well, when Big Brother gets to earn fun things like Lego Bucks, Sister wants to join the cause! That is where the Build-a-Bear Bucks got their start!

This week, both kids reached their goals and were able to turn in their bucks for the real deal. Oh, the difference between girls and boys. Landon didn't want to go shop for his lego set. He knew exactly which one he wanted and just wanted me to run to the store to grab it and bring it home! DONE!
The THUNDER DRILLER!
He put this thing together in two seconds flat.

Reagan on the other hand, preferred to make an afternoon out of it. She asked if we could spend the afternoon at the mall, eating, playing, going to Build-a-Bear and just doing girl things! DONE!

She had to fill it with the perfect amount of stuffing.

time for a warm bath and blow dryMeet Molly Bear! (How on earth did I get away with her picking one of the least expensive animals? It was between this bear and Hello Kitty. Man I lucked out and I promise I didn't persuade her one way or the other!)

All in all, we are thrilled to have something that works in the Brown house. We have added to the Buck incentive now that the first items have been purchased (It gets expensive, folks!). Now in order to earn both bucks for the day, they have to have super days at school (and happy attitudes in the morning) AND beds must be made in the morning, fish fed and rooms picked up. Let's just say that out of the last three days, I have not handed over near as many bucks as I had been!

Great idea! Can see Brooks need a little monetary encouragement for many years to come. Also love the difference btw girls and boys!

Greatness! Ryan immediately added this Lego set to his Christmas list:-). Such a wonderful idea, especially the attitude part in the mornings!!!! We could use a good incentive.
