It's been a while!

Here I am after quite a break from the blogging world! If you remember from a previous post, we had to postpone our Easter Sunday plans due to a sick little girl. Well...the next couple of weeks played out as follows:

Monday/Tuesday: We kept Reagan home because of the stomach bug and told Aunt Ernie and cousin Reid who were in town from California (and supposed to be staying with us) that they needed to make other plans until we are all well. (Little did we know that would be a while!)

Tuesday: We decided to take Payton to the doctor (she had been super fussy all day and would not eat) and found she had an ear infection and thrush. Lovely.

Wednesday/ Thursday: Hung out hoping we were on the mend and began getting ready for Erin and Reid to make their appearance on Sunday afternoon!
Friday: I began to feel pretty yucky. I felt as though I was probably getting a Urinary Tract Infection and called Uncle Kyle and Aunt Alli to hook me up with some antibiotics. (I have had these infections many times in my life and usually know when one is coming on.) As the day progressed, I felt there might be something a little more serious going on. (like a possible kidney stone!) Being the stubborn person that I am, I waited to do anything about it. In fact, Reagan had a sweet little friend over and I was supposed to be meeting her mom around 4:30 to give her back. As the pain continued, I decided to call her mom and bump that up to 3:15. I ended up calling Brad and low and behold, he happened to be on his way home. (A God thing for sure! He is never able to come home at 2:30 in the afternoon!) I spent some time in bed that afternoon and began to feel a little better that evening. We got the kids to bed later that night and settled down for a good night's sleep. No such luck. Around 11, the pain was intense and there was no sleeping in sight. Once again, the doctors in the family were called and Brad headed out to pick up some more serious drugs. These drugs didn't touch the pain, so a trip to the ER was in our near future. We called Mr. Britton and Mrs. Michelle around 1:30am to come keep our kids and we were checked into the ER by 2:00. After a CT scan and more drugs, I was told I have a kidney stone that is too large to pass. ( I think the doctor's exact words were...."Your kidney stone is about the same size as that baby you gave birth to a couple of months ago!"....nice, huh!? Although I knew it was a major exaggeration, I wanted to tell him I would give birth to ten more babies without pain meds if he promised I would never have to go through this again!) Because it was the weekend and urologists are no where to be found, we headed home for the rest of the weekend (with some good drugs in tow) and told to call first thing Monday morning and get in to see one.

Saturday/Sunday: Pops and Lucy took Landon and Reagan for the rest of the weekend and Doc and Mimi came to our rescue to help with Payton and to give us some rest. Erin and Reid arrived on Sunday to stay for a few days as well.

Monday: I got in to see the urologist and my surgery was scheduled for the following day at 2:00. THANK GOODNESS! Erin and Reid were here and again, it was a total God thing. She was a saint and took such good care of us! Thank you Ernie!

Tuesday: The kidney stone procedure went off without a hitch (except for the throwing up in the recovery room.....I obviously didn't tolerate the anesthetic too well. I don't remember any of this!) and a stint was put in while I was knocked out. I was sent home a few hours later.

Wednesday/Thursday: Mimi was back here to help. This was a necessity because there were two things I could do...either stand up and pace, or lay down and be miserable. (the stint really was uncomfortable and didn't allow for much movement!)

Thursday: STINT GOT TAKEN OUT AND I WAS A NEW WOMAN!!! Finally, I was back to feeling good and able to get on with life.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to document the last week for my sake! So glad it is over. Thank you to Doc, Mimi, Pops, Lucy, Mr. Britton, Mrs. Michelle, Erin, Reid, Alli and Kyle for all of your help! Thank you to those of you that brought us food and called to check on us! It meant so much to us! We are so thankful to be on the up and up and ready to have a few boring weeks ahead of us. Love you all!

I am attaching a lovely picture of me in the recovery room....thank you to my sweet husband for capturing this. (Not really...but I guess he knew I would want to blog about this at some point and what's a post without a picture?)
