Christmas 2010: Part Two

Christmas Eve is always a special time for us. We started about four years ago making sure we were at our own house to celebrate and to begin our own traditions as a family! The past couple of years, Pops and Lucy have also spent the night with us. We started the evening off at our church's Christmas Eve service. I don't know what it is about the service, but I love sitting on the pew with my three kids (Brad did have to exit with Payton this year. Imagine that!) and celebrating the birth of Jesus. As cheesy as it sounds, seeing the kids take in the music and sing along just makes me emotional! Then they have to go and hand out those dern candles. Do you know what it is like making sure your oldest doesn't set his sister's hair on fire and your daughter doesn't let the hot wax drip on her tights and begin screaming during the a cappella version of Silent Night? Oh, yes! That has happened before! (the dripping wax part....not the setting the hair on fire part! Not yet, anyway!)

Mommy and kids before the service
(If you can't tell by the picture, Payton was in a lovely mood for most of the evening!)
This is a terrible picture, but this is the kids' part of the service. Pastor Chris did a little children's sermon before speaking to the adults.
Pops and Lucy with their two oldest grandkids
(Their youngest wanted nothing to do with a picture. See photo above.)
Daddy, Landon and Reagan at our oh-so-traditional, Mexican restaurant, Christmas Eve dinner
It was then home to make chocolate chip cookies! Santa's favorite!
Please forgive the mouths FULL of cookie dough! (Mommy's included)
Leaving food for the reindeer
Yep....it was raining and 30 degrees outside, and my child didn't have on shoes or socks!
Landon and Reagan both read part of the Christmas story. Payton wished she had a turn!
Once we were all asleep, Santa came!

Christmas Morning!

Reagan kept her eyes closed until she reached the living room
I don't think Santa disappointed at all!
