Easter 2009

When the stomach virus hits your family, it sort of changes many plans. If you recall, Landon had the yucky stuff last week. I really thought we had escaped without anyone else getting it. Sure enough, after a busy day of shopping, hunting eggs, playing with Doc and Mimi, etc. Reagan got sick on Saturday night. We debated going to church at all, but Doc and Mimi insisted that the rest of us go and they would stay home and take care of Reagan. (Mimi didn't really leave Reagan's side the entire time she was sick. It should come as no surprise that Reagan was devastated when the time came for her to go home!) We promised Reagan that no Easter pictures would be taken and that we would have a "redo" this coming Sunday. So - the pictures below are just of the Saturday hunt. And even though it was so wet, Landon was also able to do a quick hunt on Sunday with Pops and Lucy while Reagan slept.

Even though we didn't get pictures in our matching clothes (those will come this Sunday!), or get to capture on video the excitement of seeing what the Easter bunny left, one thing was not put on hold. That is the overwhelming feeling of gratitude, hope, excitement, joy, etc. etc. that comes from knowing who we were really celebrating that day! It's a risen Savior that doesn't care in the least what our dresses look like, what was hidden in each colorful egg in our baskets that morning or if the rain would stop just long enough for us to get in the traditional egg hunt. He loves me no matter how sour I smell (These days Payton's spit up has become my perfume!), how tired I look or how messy my house is. He died on that cross and came out of the tomb alive so I could live. And honestly, I need to get back to really living and stop worrying about the silly, mundane things that don't matter in the least to HIM!

Being the good southern Baptist family that we are :-), we spent the day saying...."He has risen!" Landon never would repeat back...."He has risen indeed!" Instead, he put his own spin on it. I actually LOVE his choice of words!
HE HAS RISEN! Landon answers with his arms thrown up above his head....."YES!"
Doc, Mimi, Reagan and Landon before the hunt began!
Found one!

Mimi, could you make it a little more obvious that there is an egg right under that tree?

Now that I am looking at these pictures, I can see that Reagan wasn't feeling quite right.

The first of MANY baskets full of eggs!

Hunting eggs with Pops and Lucy on Sunday

Uhmm, excuse me, but where are my Easter goodies?

You are so right girl! It is all about HIM! I am so sorry that Reagan has been feeling puny. I will be praying that you and Brad and little bit stay healthy. BTW Ryan is FASCINATED with Landon's bday, he's looked at that post at least 10 times:-)!

Great reminder Shannon, I'm sad your Easter didn't go as planned :(, and always sad for sick babes - but hallelujah that that isn't what it's all about!! Hope your house is back to 110% soon.
